Ihr Vertragspartner ist der Schweizer Importeur Bucher & Walt. Garmin kann leider nicht jeden speziellen Wunsch erfüllen, der 2620 ist geplant als Gerät für Kunden welche nichts mit dem PC zu tun haben möchten, so wie Ihnen das auch Sam Badrick von Garmin UK mitgeteilt hat.

Zu Ihrer Information, sende ich Ihnen folgenden e-Mail-Wechsel.
(Über die Geschäftspolitik von GARMIN bin ich, wie sie unschwer bemerken dürften, ziemlich verärgert!)
Ich kaufe ein Gerät für SFr. 2600.—und muss so ein Theater für eine CD mit einem maximalen WERT von SFr. 10.00 in Kauf nehmen!!!
(Denn die Karten habe ich ja mit dem Gerät mitgekauft, es geht also nicht darum mir die Daten zu „schenken“, sondern nur um deren Verfügbarkeit auf einer CD!)
Des Weiteren möchte ich Sie auf folgendes aufmerksam machen:
Auf Ihrer Seite http://www.garmin.de (welche übrigens gut, übersichtlich und informativ gestaltet ist!)
findet sich beim GARMIN StreetPilot 2620 folgender Hinweis:
Mit der Fahrzeughalterung von Garmin, die sich auch runderen Armaturen anschmiegt, ist der StreetPilot 2620 sehr einfach in jedem Fahrzeug stabil aufzustellen. Sie benötigen nur eine Halterung für all Ihre Fahrzeuge, denn durch das flexible Kreuz können Sie die Halterung an alle erdenklichen Armaturformen verschiedenster KFZ - Hersteller anpassen. Diese mobile Halterung wird nicht aufgeklebt, sondern haftet durch ihre gummierte Unterlage, ihr Gewicht und eben der anpassbaren Form. Zusätzlich wird eine 2. Halterung mitgeliefert, die fest auf das Armaturenbrett geklebt werden kann. Durch seine Spritzwasserdichtigkeit (IPX7) ist der StreetPilot 2620 auch auf dem Motorrad mit einem optionalen Halter einsetzbar.
Mein Motorrad-Händler und Verkäufer des StreetPilot 2620 hat für mich die Motorradhalterung bestellt.
Als er sie erhalten hat fand er dabei folgenden Hinweis:
„Das GARMIN StreetPilot 2620 ist nicht für die Verwendung auf einem Motorrad geeignet, da durch die Vibrationen die eingebaute HD beschädigt werden könnte!“ (Sinngemäss, nicht wörtlich)
Im Handbuch zum Gerät findet sich kein solcher Hinweis!
Zum Glück zeigt sich mein Händler kulanter als GARMIN Europa und ist nach dem ganzen Theater ohne weiteres bereit, mein GARMIN StreetPilot 2620 zurück zu nehmen!

This is a completely unsatisfying Response!
The 2620 was developed after customer request for a unit that they could take out of the box and use. They did not want to mess around with unlock codes loading mapping tiles and PC.
It’s nice, you think about People with don’t want to mess around with the PC. But what about People who like to have the Choice?
(Having the Maps ready on the Unit and still plan the Routes comfortably on the PC?
Do I have to get an Illegal Copy of the CD, so I can work with it?
And what’s the f…..ing unlock-code for that I got with the Registration?

Thank you for contacting the GARMIN Europe cartography department ( cartography.europe@garmin.com ).
What you have been told by our Swiss distributor is correct.there is no CD to load onto your PC.
The 2620 was developed after customer request for a unit that they could take out of the box and use. They did not want to mess around with unlock codes loading mapping tiles and PC.
If you wished to have the faculty to use the mapping on the PC you should have purchased the 2610.
There is nowhere on our web site our on the packaging stating that you would get any City Navigator Europe CD to load onto your PC, therefore you have no rights to have the mapping data on your PC.
We are sorry but we have to decline your request for a set of CDs.

I was told that I I'm not allowed to use the Map-Data on my PC if I bought a "GARMIN StreetPilot 2620"!
I love that all the Data-Maps are fix on the hard disk of the "GARMIN StreetPilot 2620", so I don't have to transfer
The maps always to the Unit if I decide to travel in another region. That's the reason I decided to by "GARMIN StreetPilot 2620" instead of "GARMIN StreetPilot 2610". (Witch costs something more!)
But it's much more comfortable to plan and handle Routes, Tracks and Waypoints with "MapSource" then it is doing this on the Unit itself. I don't see why I should be excluded of the possibility to use this software, because I decided to buy the more expensive Unit!!!

Told me, that they are not able to help me, and that I have to make my request to you. (Which I think is a lousy custommer Service!)
I already wrote a few days ago to cartography@garmin.com , but didn't receive a answer yet.
I think I got all rights to use the Map-Date I bought with the Unit also on my PC an therefore I request that you will send me a CD version of "City Navigator EUROPE" Version 6.00!
An at the moment very upset customer!
